Youth Community of Practice on Just Transitions
Find out how to connect and engage with our young peoples community.
All the youth participants across the IIED Europe-Green Economy Coalition, between 18-35 years are invited to join our community of practice funded by the European Union.
In everything we do, we believe that just transition futures are possible because of the choices, decisions and actions that we take today.
We imagine them to challenge our assumptions, bring new perspectives and change old narratives.
Join us for these 60-min interactive futures-thinking sessions where we play in futures so that we can start turning them into reality today. Guided by Elaine France, from Flow In Action, these sessions are fun, informal and welcome everyone - no prior experience of futures-thinking or foresight is needed.
Thursday 15th January 17.30h CET: Postcards from the Future
What postcard would you send to yourself from a just transition future? We turn the humble tourist postcard into messages of hope as artifacts from distant futures.
Tuesday 20th January 17.30h CET: Play Dreams & Disruptions
Dreams & Disruptions® is a futures-thinking game from UNESCO Chair Dr Shermon Cruz, played all around the world. In our short session, we’ll co-create a scenario of just transition futures around connecting with nature.
Tuesday 27th January 17.30h CET: CLA Mash-Up
Let’s challenge the old narratives keeping us stuck in the status quo. We will play with a brilliant futures-thinking method called Causal Layered Analysis (CLA) that help us to reveal old narratives and map transformative futures.
Thursday 12th February 19h CET: Signals Smash
Everyone brings a signal – a tangible, real, vivid change – happening today and we’ll smash them together to explore what futures they might unfold. When you see signals, you see potential impact – then you can make different decisions today.
Our intention, when we meet as a community, is for a multicultural experience, to hear and include all voices and their cultural heritage as part of an intercultural dialogue.
Knowing how valuable your time is as agents of change – we want this time together to really count because playing together as a community, builds belonging and belonging generates hope and wellbeing.
Plus…participating in the sessions means that you will be building core democratic competences, essential for unfolding just transition futures. We will tell you what these are each time. Developing your futures-thinking – aka long-term thinking - is a core green skill, essential for innovation and adding to your employability portfolio as young leaders.
Here’s the link to sign-up for the sessions which will take place on Zoom. Pre-registration is necessary.
