The Equality Trust

The Equality Trust is a campaigning organisation founded in 2009 by Bill Kerry, Richard G. Wilkinson and Kate Pickett after the publication of Wilkinson and Pickett's book The Spirit Level: Why More Equal Societies Almost Always Do Better (2009). The book highlights the "pernicious effects that inequality has on societies: eroding trust, increasing anxiety and illness, (and) encouraging excessive consumption". The Equality Trust works to improve the quality of life in the UK by reducing economic and social inequality. It works with affiliated local groups across the UK and also supports a network of international equality groups and contacts working to the same ends.

The Equality Trust joined the GEC in 2017.
