New GEC hosting arrangements announced
Sharing an update on new host organisations for the Green Economy Coalition.
As you may know, the Green Economy Coalition is currently undergoing some organisational changes, and we're delighted to be able to share an update on the arrangements that we're currently moving forward with.
Following IIED’s decision to withdraw from its hosting of the GEC at the end of last year, two long-standing GEC members stepped forward to work towards co-hosting the GEC Secretariat and workstreams going forward.
IndyAct (Lebanon) and Development Alternatives (India) are both highly respected and long-standing NGOs with an impressive record of project delivery in their respective sectors, and we’re very excited that they have prepared a transition proposal for GEC leadership. Under this proposal, IndyAct will assume secretariat function (strategy, projects, member management, events and comms), and DA will assume knowledge coordination (knowledge networks, themes and policies, thematic events and projects). The details of this are being worked out, and to feed into this process we are starting a round of consultations with members.
We anticipate this consultation will take at least a few weeks, but we look forward to being able to share some more news as the arrangements are firmed up towards the autumn of 2026. In the meantime, please do follow us on LinkedIn to stay in the loop on future developments. And feel free to get in touch to share your thoughts.
