Zero-emission scooters (Japan)
Honda Motor Company launched a zero emissions electric motorbike in 2010, aimed at the mass-market and domestic business customers. A lithium-ion battery gives the EV-neo performances equivalent to that of a 50cc petrol engine, and can be recharged from an ordinary household power outlet. The silent zero-emission two-wheeler accelerates to a speed of up to 30 kilometers per hour.
The battery takes nearly four hours to charge completely and allows the bike to travel 30 kilometers with it. When in a hurry and a rapid-charge is required, the charging the battery for just 20 minutes gives it up to 80 percent of capacity. Honda plans to start selling the EV-neo in Japan from December this year, mainly targeting companies and small business owners.
